Pale Sheep

Also, I don’t know if this is strange, but I hate dust covers. Any time I’m reading a book with a dust cover, it’ll maybe stay on for the first chapter, while it still makes a convenient bookmark. But I get very tired of it sliding in my hands very quickly, and it usually winds up in a drawer somewhere.

Not only do I get tired of it sliding, but I just like how hardcovers look on their own, without the dust cover. Flat colour, maybe with the spine in a different colour, and usually the title is embossed and shiny.Very simple. Very classic.

Granted, it wouldn’t have the same effect for catching someone’s eye on the shelf, and it doesn’t have a summary on the back, so I suppose that’s half the point of the dust cover.

(That and you don’t get celery-juice fingerprints on the back of the lovely classic cover. Oops…)
